ENTRY FORM. 10-04-11: Midwest Senior States Cancelled. The 2011 Midwest Senior States planned for December has been cancelled due to scheduling issues with the meet location and also personal scheduling conflicts with the meet director. "I apologize to all the lifters for any inconvenience this may have caused, but I did not want to run a sub par meet and have a negative impact on the lifting experience." Tim Anderson , Meet Director 10-04-11: Entry Forms Posted for Capital City meet. 10-01-11: Sindelar becomes Masters World Champion! Bill Sindelar competed this last week at the IPF Masters World Championships in Canda and won the Masters 3 120kg/264lb class. More information to come. 09-03-11: Thurman and Maynard compete at Bench Nationals! Danny Thurman and Peter Maynard both of Nebraska competed at Bench Nationals Held in Orlandao September 3-4. Thurman won the Open and Master 83kg/183lb class. Maynard placed 2nd ind the Masters and 4th in the Open 105kg/231lb class. Maynards lift was also a new Nebraska state masters record of 523lbs. The lift also put Maynard 6th on the All-Time Ranking for Nebraska. 07-25-11: Ruben wins Nationals! An account from National by Robert Schmidt: On June 12, 2011, I had the pleasure of competing in my first USAPL Men's Nationals in the 242 class. In Alaska, we have a saying from dog mushing: "Unless you are the lead dog, the view never changes." While I am resigned to not being the lead dog, at least for now, there were four men who showed up seriously looking to get the lead dog view. Jeff Douglas opened his squat at 794, which he missed twice. For his third, he called for 821, which he got. He was the only open lifter to get his third squat. Ken Reuben hit 771 on his second, Jessie Betzinger got 816 on his second, and Jon Krogman got 727 on his opener (only three of the nine open lifters got their second attempt squats). Ruben got the biggest bench at 551 on his second, Krogman hit 529 going three for three on the bench, Douglas got 518 on his opener, and Betzinger got 457 on his opener. At subtotal, Douglas was in the lead, followed by Ruben, Krogman then Betzinger, separated by about 66 pounds. This would be the makeup of the overall top four, with Douglas, Ruben and Betzinger all hitting 688 on their second deadlift, and Krogman narrowing the gap, but staying in third, with a 727 successful second attempt. Ruben called for 722 on his third to equal Douglas's total (2044.79). Krogman did call for a final pull of 771 pounds, which would have given him the win on body weight but he was not successful. Ruben was victorious of Douglas based on body weight (240.1lbs vs 240.6lbs). Wilks 547.5033 vs 547.1323. In all, the top four lifters were separated by only three percent, the class as a whole had the most open lifters, and, certainly for the top four lifters, it could have been anybody's day. 07-25-11: State Records and All-time Rankings Updated 06-20-11: Thurman becomes World Champion! Danny Thurman competed May 27 at the IPF World Bench Press Chamionships in Soeldon, Austria. Thurman competed in the 83kg class and edged out lifters from Russia and Spain to take the Gold medal and become an IPF World Champion. Thurman benched 556lbs on his opener, missed a 578 second attempt. With the gold medal secured Thurman took a third attempt of 612lbs to try and break the World record, but was not successful. I'm sure you will see a world record out of Thurman soon.
