02-15-11: Nebraska Lifters invited to the Arnold Classic Three Nebraska lifters have been invited to compete in events at the Arnold Classic Sports Festival. The Arnold held March 4-6 in Columbus Ohio, is the largest multi-sport event in the nation and included some 18,000 athletes in 46 sports and 175,000 visiting fans. The lifters will be Kenny Ruben who will compete in the NAPF American Invitational. Danny Thurman and Tim Anderson have been invited to compete in the IPF Titan Pro Bench. In the NAPF event Ruben will be competing against lifters from North and South America for a part of $3000 in cash Prizes. Thurman and Anderson will be competing in the IPF Titan Pro Bench against some of the top benchers in the world. Lifters will be coming from Sweden, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Austria, Norway, and Japan. They will all be vying for up to $5000 in prize money. Roster 11-28-10: Entry posted for 2011 Capital City Clash Be sure to check out the entry form and contest info for the 2011 Capital City Clash. 11-28-10: IPF Masters Worlds Congratulations to Rita Carlson for placing 2nd in the M2 132lb class with a 777lb total at the IPF Masters World Championships held in Pilsen, Czech Republic. Nebraska's Bill Sindelar also competed and placed 6th in the M2 with a 1460lb total. 11-28-10: USAPL Bench Nationals Danny Thurman and Tim Anderson competed at the 2010 USAPL Bench National in Charlottesville VA. Tim Anderson won his 6th straight National Title with a 622lb bench in the 220 class. Danny Thurman took 2nd place at 198lb class with a 600lb bench behind legendary Dennis Cieri, a multi time World Champion. Thurman had the winning weight in his hands on his third attempt but mis grooved it. Thurman's lift was a new Nebraska state Open and Masters record. His 600lb bench gives him the biggest Master bench of All-time in Nebraska regardless of weight class. Very impressive for a lifter under 200lbs. Their performances earn Anderson and Thurman a slot on the USA World Team set to compete at the IPF World Bench Press Championships in 2011 held in Austria. 08-08-10: USAPL Newsletter Be sure to check out the new USAPL newsletter 08-08-10: Sindelar Named Referee of the Year At the annual USAPL National Governing Body meeting several awards are handed out. This year the Nebraska State Chair Bill Sindelar was awarded "The Referee of the Year" 08-07-10: Congrates to Anderson and Thurman Danny Thurman And Tim Anderson competed at the IPF World Bench Press Championships held May 25-29 in Killeen TX. Danny competed in the 181 class and had a close battle with the Japanese lifter. In the end they both benched 551lbs, but the Japanese lifter was lighter bodyweight and took the Gold, Danny ended with the Silver medal. Tim competed in the 220 class and lead the pack after second attempts. Tim was in 1st with only two other lifters to go for 3rd attempts, both lifters took 617 to move into 1st and they made the lifts, putting Tim in 3rd, but Tim had the last lift, he took 622 for the win. He locked the weight out and waited for the lights... two reds one white, this put Tim on the podium with the Bronze. Japan in silver and Kazakhstan in Gold. The Men's US team finished second to an always tough Japanese Team. 08-01-10: Carlsson and Sindelar named to Masters World Team After competing at their respective nationals, Bill Sindelar and Rita Carlsson have earned team slots on the 2011 Masters World Team. They will compete at the 2010 IPF World Masters in Pilsen Czech Republic at the end of September. Good luck to them. 04-30-10: Nebraska State Meet Results The 2010 Nebraska State meet was held April 24 in Lincoln. The results are here and also posted under results. State Records have been also been updated. 04-30-10: Thurman wins Master Bench Worlds! Danny Thurman won the IPF Masters World Bench held in Orlando FL on April 1-4. Danny Thurman competed in the 181lb class and pressed 551lbs to take the M1 class and to take one of the overall Champion of Champions awards. 2nd place was over 50lbs behind him. Congratulations! 03-01-10: Viking Classic Cancelled The 2010 Viking Classic scheduled for March 14 in Fremont, will be cancelled due to low turnout. Any questions please contact Tim Anderson 02-12-10: Bids for 2011 Nebraska State Bids for the 2011 USAPL Nebraska State Championships are being accepted until April 10th. If you are interested in directing the State meet please email your bid by the deadline to the Nebraska State Chair, Bill Sindelar. 02-09-10: Results Posted & Records Updated The results for the Capital City Clash have been posted and the state records have been updated. 01-20-10: Entry Posted for 2010 Nebraska State The Nebraska State Championships will be held Saturday April 23 in Lincoln. 01-14-10: Entry Posted for 2010 Viking Classic The 10th Annual Viking Classic will be held Sunday March 14th in Fremont. 12-08-09: Results & Records Updated Results from the Midwest Senior States

The 2009 Bench Nationals was held in Cleveland, OH. With only 4 Nebraska lifters in attendance Nebraska was still able to place 7th among all states. Those lifters were Danny Thurman, David Giestlinger, Tim Anderson, and John Probasco. |
